A short film about screaming.
About the musical piece:
It seems to me that scream, especially the suppressed one, is present in the lives of all people, regardless of gender or age. I can see more clearly, possibly through self-observation and the perspective my gender identity gives me, how women suppress screaming. For various reasons, but a large part of them are certainly the affectionate remarks given to us by our mothers, fathers, uncles and teachers. We don’t scream because someone might find us hysterical. We don’t scream because anger is bad for our looks. We never scream in order to not be too loud, not to be aggressive, not to be too weak. In my piece, repressed emotions are the starting point for creating an abstract narrative using flute-playing techniques. The flute, of course, from a certain perspective, may appear as an extension of the vocal apparatus, and certain sonic gestures may faithfully reproduce attempts to speak, despite internal resistance.

Ein Kurzfilm über das Schreien.
Über das Musikstück:
Es scheint mir, dass der Schrei, besonders der unterdrückte, im Leben aller Menschen präsent ist, unabhängig von Geschlecht und Alter. Ich kann deutlicher sehen, vielleicht durch Selbstbeobachtung und die Perspektive, die mir meine Geschlechtsidentität gibt, wie Frauen das Schreien unterdrücken. Aus verschiedenen Gründen, aber ein großer Teil davon sind sicherlich die liebevollen Bemerkungen, die wir von unseren Müttern, Vätern, Onkeln und Lehrern zu hören bekommen. Wir schreien nicht, weil uns jemand hysterisch finden könnte. Wir schreien nicht, weil Wut schlecht für unser Aussehen ist. Wir schreien nicht, um nicht zu laut zu sein, um nicht aggressiv zu sein, um nicht zu schwach zu sein. In meinem Stück sind verdrängte Emotionen der Ausgangspunkt, um eine abstrakte Erzählung mit Hilfe von Flötenspieltechniken zu schaffen. Natürlich kann die Flöte aus einer bestimmten Perspektive als eine Erweiterung des Stimmapparats erscheinen, und bestimmte klangliche Gesten können trotz innerer Widerstände die Versuche zu sprechen getreu wiedergeben.

Filip Bojarski – Born in 1990 in Poland. A 5th year student of Film and Television Directing Department at Lodz Film School. Graduated from Cognitive Studies at the Institute of Philosophy of the Jagiellonian University in Kraków.
Teoniki Rożynek is a composer of contemporary, film and theatre music based in Warsaw (Poland). She places particular emphasis on electronic sound design and experiments with sound effects and audience perception. Teoniki has had concert works commissioned by, among others, Warsaw Autumn Festival, Sacrum Profanum Festival, Polish Radio, Capella Cracoviensis and Unsound Festival.

Krystyna Lama Szydłowska – performer / choreographer / movement director / dancer / culture animator / dance pedagogue, graduate of the Academy of Music in Łódź in the field of choreography. She creates original choreographies in theaters, films and music videos. She is interested in body movement reflecting the transformation of emotional states. She treats dance as a combination of emotional expression and functionality of particular parts of the body. She loves sugar.
